Samatta off to Abuja for Africa’s Best Player gala
Kizuguto said TFF president Jamal
Malinzi and the federation wish Samatta all the best in his bid to win
African Player of the year Award for those based in Africa for 2015. The
‘Taifa Stars’ lethal striker is the first ever Tanzanian to be
nominated for the continental award following his brilliant performance
with the Congolese Club.
The head coaches of the national
associations affiliated to CAF, will vote in their order of preference
to decide on the eventual winners of the two categories. In his category
Samatta will compete against Abdeladim Khadrouf (Morocco & Moghreb
Tetouan), Baghdad Bounedjah (Algeria & Etoile du Sahel), Felipe
Ovono (Equatorial Guinea & Orlando Pirates) and Kermit Erasmus
(South Africa & Orlando Pirates).
Other contestants are (Mohamed Meftah
(Algeria & USM Alger), Mudather Eltaib Ibrahim ‘Karika’ (Sudan &
El Hilal), Robert Kidiaba Muteba (DR Congo & TP Mazembe), Roger
Assalé (Cote d’Ivoire & TP Mazembe) and Zineddine Ferhat (Algeria
& USM Alger).
Those shortlisted for African Player of
the Year 2015 are André Ayew (Ghana & Swansea), Aymen Abdennour
(Tunisia & Valencia), Mudather Eltaib Ibrahim ‘Karika’ (Sudan &
El Hilal) and Mohamed Salah (Egypt & Roma).
